Specializing in the custom manufacturing of complex and ultraprecise machined components and assemblies, Allstate Tool and Die (ATD) Precision recently unveiled their new Swiss CNC Turning Center. The cutting-edge Star Micronics Swiss type model is one of only a few SX-38s in the U.S.

“The SX-38 Type A gives us the opportunity to expand our machining capabilities and maximize productivity,” says Karen Kitchura, sales manager at ATD Precision. “It is the powerful and efficient Swiss turning solution for machining complex mill-turn parts. The SX-38 represents the next generation in sliding head technology.”

The company’s new Swiss CNC Turning Center has a single Y-axis turret for working on highly complex components. Its live tooling allows for several different features to be machined simultaneously. It also has programmable back spindles and a Boss 338 DH Superfast bar feeder for enhanced efficiency. Using the spindle sleeve slide guideway structure in non-guide bushing mode reproduces the rigidity and accuracy of conventional turning, while holding tolerances as low as 13 microns (.0005 in.) total on ODs and IDs. The SX-38 has increased ATD’s maximum turnable diameter on its Swiss types to 1.5 inches.

The Rochester, New York-based company’s new equipment excels in the manufacture and assembly of ultraprecise and intricate machined components. The Swiss turning technology enables ATD Precision to shorten lead times and reduce costs because of the reduced time involved both in set-up and cycle times.

“Our team of highly skilled engineers, machinists, and technicians is committed to being on the cutting edge of technology so that we can provide optimal solutions for our customers,” explains Kitchura.
