Brumleve Industries has announced the release of its latest resource “How Does Waterjet Cutting Work?”. This resource provides insight into the waterjet cutting process by covering an overview of the process, what it is used for, safety practices to maintain, different parts of the waterjet cutter, benefits of using waterjet cutting, and different tools that can be cut with a waterjet.

Waterjet cutting is a process where a stream of water is pressurized to over 90,000 pounds per square inch which allows it to cut through the material. Waterjet cutting is known for its precision and is less likely to damage the material. Ideal for straight, curved, and circular cuts, waterjet cutting is recommended for steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and plastic but should not be used on fine stones. According to Brumleve Industries, “A waterjet cutter can make extremely intricate cuts and produce a smooth finish.”

The process of waterjet cutting begins by using the nozzle to clean the material, and the cutting is done by a pulse-controlled waterjet stream that allows the cutting tool to go back and forth until the material is completely cut. While there are many uses for waterjet cutting, the main uses include machining, prototyping, carving, and sculpting.
