Reportedly Tesla got the biggest casting machine called Giga Press for developing Cybertruck’s body in May 2022. Tesla acquired several units of these multi-million dollar casting machines that are being developed by Idra Group, the manufacturer of die casting machines. Telsa installed its first-ever casting machine at the Fremont factory on 2020, to produce Model Y. After that Tesla introduced several other casting machines at its Texas Gigafactory unit for producing  Model Y.

Tesla founder Elon Musk said that the Giga Press machines build cars the same way toys are created. It uses an advanced single-piece Giga casting technology to create the entire exoskeleton of the car at once which has been introduced to Tesla’s Model Y electric SUVs. It produces shells for Cybertrucks from a folded stainless steel sheet.

According to a source the Idra Groups are creating customized unibody casting machines for Tesla’s Model Y and at the same time, they started testing a new 9,000 pound Giga press to be delivered to Tesla. Giga Berlin will also be creating eight unibody die casting machines for Tesla alone.

Elon Musk confirmed previously that Tesla’s Cybertruck will be built using a single stainless steel sheet to form the exoskeleton of the car. Tesla said, “Cybertruck is built with an exterior shell made for ultimate durability and passenger protection. Starting with a nearly impenetrable exoskeleton, every component is designed for superior strength and endurance, from Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless-steel structural skin to Tesla armor glass.”

According to a source, the company will start its production of the Cybertrucks in 2023 a glimpse of which is presented on Tesla’s Twitter account.
