Hasbro and Somerville-based Formlabs are teaming up to help create "selfie" action figures.

Have you ever wanted to see yourself in miniature action figure form? Here’s your chance.

Hasbro and a Somerville 3D printing technology company, Formlabs, said they have teamed up to create “Selfie” action figures, according to their website.

“To the fan, we’re delivering one figure. There’s nothing mass about it. You’re going to get the figure you want, with the hairstyle that you want, with your face on it. You are becoming that action figure,” said Brian Chapman, the Head of Global Design at Hasbro.

All the customer has to do is download the Hasbro Pulse app which is able to scan their face with a selfie. Next, the customer chooses their hair color and their preferred action figure. The user’s action figure configuration is sent to Hasbro where it is customized and created and later sent to the customer.

The Somerville company is helping Hasbro with several steps in the production of the action figures including the material development, on-site support, print optimization and custom material development, among other components.

Formlabs is also providing the range of skin tones and the color palette for the action figures.

“Ten years ago, 3D printing was not in a place where it could reliably be used in these high value, high customization types of jobs, but we’ve gotten there. We now have the reliability and the precision that we need to participate in manufacturing,” said Dávid Lakatos, the chief product officer of Formlabs.

The action figures will cost approximately $59 and be ready to be ordered this fall, said CBS Boston.
